Northern Ohio Regional Cancer Center Now Accredited Through 2014

Prologics and its partner Northern Ohio Regional Cancer Center (NORCC) are excited to announce accreditation to become the first American College of Radiology (ACR) certified in the greater Cleveland area.
The ACR accreditation assures expert assessment of image quality for radiation equipment, a peer review, and an educationally focused evaluation of the facility’s practice. The ACR accreditation is considered the gold standard in medical imaging. ACR has 34,000 members who are radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, interventional radiologists, and nuclear medicine physicians.
“Thanks to the NORCC staff and Prologic’s support for making us the first ACR certified facility in the greater Cleveland area,” said Dr. Jon Prescott, Radiation Oncologist and Medical Director of NORCC. “This is a big step forward and proves what we already know!”
Prologics is a Tennessee-based company that works to manage the NORCC. The organization treats prostate cancer, specifically with brachytherapy. Brachytherapy is a unique treatment of prostate cancer that uses radioactive seed implants that consist of a radioactive source inside a titanium shell and emits low energy radiation. The Northern Ohio Regional Cancer Center is located in Brook Park, Ohio, and works to treat cancer and other diseases using radiation therapy. NORCC offers a number of patient services, including brachytherapy, hospice services, and support groups for cancer patients, social services, and nutritional services. NORCC has also implemented Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), which is only available in a few select centers of excellence in Ohio. This therapy is the most precise form of external beam radiation therapy available.
