Do animals also respond to light therapy?
I was recently diagnosed with SAD and perscribed a light box with 10,000 lux. I see a huge improvement in my mood and energy level. I’m wondering if animals (like my pets) could also benefit from my light box. Is light therapy known to effect animals the same way it does people?

I’m skeptical about using it the way you would use it on yourself because, for example, cats have a sleep pattern very different from humans. My guess is that if used in moderation it would do no harm, because the box is like sunlight, which animals are exposed to frequently.

I would get your pet(s) get checked out by a vet. Ive never heard of an animal be affected by light levels before. I am inferring from your question that you are concerned of your pets energy level/mood. These things are usually age related and/or physical health related. Get them checked out and make sure there is not a phys reason why they are not acting as they usually do.
